“Solo: A Star Wars Story”- Everything We Know

“The Star Wars” films have not only sustained a dedicated audience since 1977 but have also grown to be a top-grossing, successful franchise. It takes a great mastermind to keep people hooked on to addictively intriguing movie plots, that too for decades! Hence, it is no surprise that everyone is already pumped up after watching the new movie trailer – and by the way, it has already crossed “Black Panther” by making the highest ticketing presales.

According to the Disney synopsis, released in mid-January earlier this year, and the recent trailer, it is clear that this standalone movie’s protagonist is going to be Han Solo. In chronological order, the events of this movie are ingeniously placed between “Episode three: Revenge of the Sith”; where Chewbacca was first introduced and Rogue One.
By the looks of the trailer the following information has been uncovered:
The life of Han Solo, before he became an illicit drug smuggler for Jabba, is depicted.
Possibly a younger Han Solo and his childhood friend, Qi’Ra are also shown.
Which leads to their reunion and Qi’Ra’s speculation about what he must be pursuing next.
One of the most anticipated meetings includes Chewbacca encountering Han Solo. The dynamic duo seems to offer some comedic relief to the action-packed film as they already have us smiling gleefully at their witty remarks.
Tobias Beckett is also seen possibly as a guardian who informs Han about Dryden Vos.
Which brings us to the famously quoted “big-shot gangster” Dryden Vos, who has built a great empire by questionable means.
The conflict arises when the trailer shows the small, Han Solo alliance being chased by a trooper.
Solo and the crew make their way to the snow planet.
The turning point arrives once Tobias proposes his need for a ship and Qi’Ra links them up with Lando Calrissian.
Lando Calrissian is the well-known smuggler, finest at his trait. Moreover, he was the owner of Millennium Falcon.
He even owns a unique droid, L3-37.
They seem successful with their negotiation with Lando and they make their voyage.
A great combat scene takes place with the Range troopers.
Tobias’s lines “let me give you some advice: expect that everyone will betray you, and you will never be disappointed,” hint to a dramatic twist, possibly within the Solo alliance.
Another Wookiee, possibly Lumpawaroo, Chewbacca’s son is an icing on the cake.
Han finally flies the Falcon.
A string of snippets of intense battlegrounds is seen.
If there is anything more intriguing in the complicated line-up of events and characters, it is the uncertainty of a villain. Certainly, Dryden Vos’s shady character can vouch for troublemaking on his part. But the real mystery lies within Enfys Nest, the leader of the Cloud-Riders. The character’s gender and actor have not even been divulged yet and our curiosity knows no bounds. Thus, it’s quite possible that Enfys Nest will provide with a major opposition in the movie.
Another fascinating theory is that Qi’Ra could be the villain. This theory is reinforced by the fact that Tobias does warn Han of betrayal by a closed one. Although this would cause many heartbreaks since it can’t be foreseen by many viewers it will be a game changer for the movie.
Cast and crew

“The Game of Thrones” lead actress, Emilia Clarke as Qi’Ra
Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian
Woody Harrelson as Tobias Beckett
Phoebe Waller-Bridge as L3-37

Ron Howard replaced Lord and Miller shortly after they were fired by Kennedy. Back in February 2017, this news caused huge waves; especially since Howard decided to reshoot some of the scenes to alter the substandard portrayal of characters by the previous directors. Ron Howard then proceeded to post frequent teasers on his social media pages.
Production Information
“Solo: A Star Wars Story” undoubtedly created hype because of its extensive fan base but it also made news due to its fair share of controversies.
We already discussed the creative clash between the initial directors, Miller and Lord and Kennedy. This caused delayed release, but fortunately, it ended on good terms – with the fired directors getting an executive producer credit.
Disputes between directors are common but the Solo has seen its fair share of disappointments. Especially because of the lead actor, Alden Ehrenreich’s performance. Sources say that his acting was so poor that they had to hire an acting coach for him. Thankfully, he was a fast learner and his acting significantly improved. But fans believe he has yet to prove how good of an actor he is in the movie.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the last “Star Wars” movie that is “The Last Jedi”, underperformed by $200 million. Thus, there is an added pressure on the crew to raise the bar higher so that they may continue making more movies. This is crucial especially since the filmmakers are planning to release more standalone movies linking the previous ones.
After the firing of experienced directors, Lucasfilms was criticised for being a controlling group of production. They have been known to give less space for the writer’s creative expression, instead, their main focus is on the budget and a fixed working schedule. This is to ensure that the audience gets exactly what they ask for without taking any risks. Although this has been working well for Lucasfilms, still people are speculating that it may make their position perilous.
Given all the mishaps, disagreements and delays, “Solo: the Star Wars Story” still seems like a gripping tale. If anything, fans are more interested to see how it performs on the box office, despite the shortcomings. In fact, it is already proving to be a great success in small theatre screens as well as with speedy ticket presales. Not only are the “Star Wars” fans elated, but diehard “Game of Thrones” fans would also probably want to watch Emilia Clarke perform the completely different character of Qi’Ra. Unlike “The Last Jedi”, “Solo: A Star Wars Story” is a mix of comic relief, intense battleground scenes and has a captivating insight of characters – it certainly is a promising movie that shouldn’t be missed.
