The Blockbuster Movie of This Summer, Mamma Mia 2!

Once again the magnificent songs of ABBA will be filled in all movie theaters this July as the date for the release of this universal’s picture blockbuster this summer have been approved. The movie “Mamma Mia! Here we go Again” will be featured in the cinemas this month of July reuniting the star-studded cast including Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, and Amanda Seyfried.

It’s been over a decade since the first release of the romantic musical comedy. Although some of the original cast will still be featured in part two, in the movie we will be welcoming a group of new casts led by Cher and Lilly James.

The movie picks up with Sheridan Sophie (Amanda Seyfried), who was last seen as a bride to be, single and pregnant just like her mother Donna (Meryl Streep) was in the early stage of her life.

To comfort Sophie, Donna’s former bandmates and friends Tanya (Christine Baranski) and Rosie (Julie Walters) share stories and memories of Donna in her youthful days.

Gary Goetzman and Judy Craymer return as the producer of the movie alongside Ol Parker who is the director and also one of the scriptwriters of the film. The movie’s first director, Lloyd Phyllida serves as the executive director with Nicky Kentish Barnes, Tom Hanks, Richard Curtis and Rita Wilson.

Majority of soundtracks in the movie comes from the original hits of ABBA, a Swedish pop musical group whose music was the major soundtrack of the first film. It was confirmed that Bjorn Ulvaeus and Beny Anderson, the founding members and composers of ABBA music group, have penned down original lyrics and songs for the movie.

From the trailers, it’s clear that the movie’s original cast returned to guide present-day Sophie, bringing back the group of acclaimed actors and actresses together once again.

Some returning cast to be featuring Mamma Mia! Here we go again are Christine Baranski plays Tanya Cheshamleigh, Julie Walters plays Rosie Mulligan, Pierce Brosnan plays Sam Carmichael, Colin Firth plays Harry bright and the new cast in the movie are Lilly James playing the role of young Donna, Jessica Wynn plays young Tanya, Alexa Davies plays young Rosie, Cher plays Ruby Sheridan.


The movie emphasizes to the present in which Donna is not around to help her daughter deal with the weight of early motherhood, also the cause of Donna absence is unknown. In her place, Rosie and Tanya, along with Bill, Henry and Sam offer Sophie support and comfort through stories of her mother as a young woman.


Universal Pictures and legendary entertainment are set to release the movie on July 20 almost the same day the first film was released 10 years ago.
